
A fire broke out in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower block of flats in North Kensington West London, on 14th June 2017 just before 1.00 am causing 72 deaths (including those of two victims who later died in hospital). This deadliest fire disaster sine World World II also injured more than 70 others but luckily 223 people escaped. It was the deadliest structural fire in the United Kingdom since 1988 Piper Alpha platform fire disaster in North Sea. Its the worst UK residential fire. The fire is under public inquiry, police investigations and coroner’s inquests.
