Fire resistant Intumerscent coating

Fire resistant intumerscent coating are normally used to protect steel beams or columns or for cables on cable trays running ling distances in power stations in remote locations to reduce fire incidents.

It is also used as a component of fire stopping barrier system on both surfaces to prevent heat transfer. Some fire-resistant paint are intumescent in nature where they expands multiple times when subjected to heat in delaying heat transfer. During the process, air is trapped within the layers while the paint expands, while water vapour is release at the sametime providing cooling process.  Other types of fire-resistant intumerscent paint does not expand but forms a hard surface that is abrasive resistant and are normally used for out door purposed. For steel structure protection, thin layers of fire-resistant paint can withstand very high temperatures.
